Israeli invasion of Palestinian camp
At least nine Palestinians have been killed in an Israeli army raid on the West Bank, according to Palestinian authorities. Sixteen others were injured. The raid was in a camp, originally intended for Palestinian refugees, which over the years has grown into a permanent residential area with concrete houses. According to the Israeli army, the action was intended to arrest members of the Palestinian militant movement Islamic Jihad.
Tensions between Israel and the Palestinian territories have risen sharply in recent months. After today’s raid, the number of Palestinian deaths this month has risen to at least 29.
What did the German parliament stormers want?
It was dismissed as an operetta coup or a walker putsch: the arrest of 25 elderly men and women in Germany, Austria and Italy in early December. Those arrested were said to have planned to storm the German parliament. They were united in their aversion to the Federal Republic of Germany, which they do not recognize and which they wanted to overthrow. But was it all so laughable, or should the right-wing radical supporters be taken seriously? We speak with German historians.
