The Prosecutor’s Office Itzehoein northern Germany, ordered the remand in custody of the author of the attack with a knife perpetrated on Wednesday on a regional train. According to the prosecution, there is no indication of a terrorist background in the crime.
The attacker, a 33-year-old Palestinian, had been in pretrial detention between January 20, 2022 and January 19, when he was released because there was no final sentence against him. His arrest at that time occurred after he attacked a man with a knife and seriously injured him while he was in line at a soup kitchen for the homeless.
Act that he carried out under the influence of a mixture of cocaine, heroin and alcohol, and had a police record for a series of crimes such as assaults, robbery and sexual harassment.
The attack left two people dead and five injured, three seriously. The fatalities were two young people, one 17 years old and the other 19.
