Teacher salaries, unions dissatisfied
The Ministry of National Education presented, Tuesday, January 24, two scenarios for raising the salaries of teachers during a meeting with the unions, but they consider the increases too low in the second half of their career. Teachers moving from one to two years of seniority would earn €153 net more per month compared to January 2023, and those with between six and eleven and a half years of seniority between €281 and €292. Those with eighteen to twenty-two years of seniority would earn only 85 to 114 €, and beyond twenty-two years, 36 to 78 €. The total budget is 635 million, and prioritizes attractiveness at the start of a career.

Yaël Braun-Pivet “hopes” for a law in 2023
The President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, said on Wednesday January 25 that she hoped for a law on the end of life in 2023, in order to offer “a new freedom”. The elected official had invested herself under the previous five-year term for Olivier Falorni’s bill authorizing euthanasia. “I hope that we will be able to succeed”, either via a bill “if the government wishes to move forward on this subject”, or via a bill from the deputies, she added.
