There are no price tags in this Amsterdam supermarket. All products are free and are delivered to those most in need. But only on the condition that they work with professionals to improve their financial situation and can fend for themselves within six to eight months.
“We desperately need this, a lot of people are in debt and can’t make ends meet, everything has become more expensive.”
The supermarket relies on food donations to maintain its services, explains manager Idrissi Abdelhamid.
“Fresh supermarket is the supermarket where about 200 or 300 children and 80 families can shop for free every day,” adds Abdelhamid.
Idrissi does not ask her clients where they work or how much they earn. The objective of this supermarket is to do good without looking at who.
