President Biden announces that the United States will send to Ukraine the equivalent of a Ukrainian tank battalion, that is, 31 M1 Abrams tanks.
“We want to guarantee that we all work together,” the president of the United States responded to a journalist’s question about the new US military support for Ukraine.
The announcement by the president of the United States, Joe Biden, comes after the meeting called this Wednesday between the German, French, Italian and British leaders to discuss military aid to Ukraine. A meeting that takes place just on a day in which Germany has decided to send Leopard tanks to the country invaded by Russia.
The upcoming arrival of Leopard 2 tanks in Ukraine from Germany and other countries is a new trick for kyiv in its attempt to stop the Russian Army and retake the initiative on the battlefield, while Russia assures that the Western plan is destined failure.
In a telephone conversation with the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, thanked the “important and timely decision” to send tanks to the country and to authorize the re-export of Leopard 2 to other States, in addition to training the Ukrainian soldiers in driving these modern battle tanks.
