In United States 19 people have died after three mass shootings recent, occurred in different locations in California. This alarming situation led California Governor Gavin Newsom to impeach the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives for not making a public statement on the matter.
“I’m still waiting for Kevin McCarthy, the leader of the House of Representatives, who claims to represent the people of the State of California, a proud and remarkable district in Kern County. We haven’t heard a word from him. Not a sentence Not a single condolence,” Newsom told reporters.
“And it shouldn’t surprise us. Where has it been on gun reform? Where has the Republican Party been on this reform? They’ve blocked it at every turn,” he said.
Gun control debate
Meanwhile, and almost at the same time as this speech, Kevin McCarthy gave his and expressed his condolences.
“First, let me begin by expressing my condolences to the families and Californians for the violence of the past few days,” McCarthy said.
“We have just returned from a retreat for our leadership, working on policies and strategies to ensure that we maintain our commitment to America, to make this country fiscally sound,” the Republican leader also took the opportunity to say.
The control of the Republicans in the House of Representatives of the United States has not allowed to achieve the objective of a law that prohibits assault rifles in this country.
