Russia, “in numerical superiority”, “intensifies” its fighting in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, said Wednesday the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense Ganna Maliar, a few hours after the announcements of deliveries of Western heavy tanks in Kyiv.

“The fighting is intensifying,” she said on Telegram, citing the area around Bakhmout, which Moscow troops have been trying to conquer for several months, but also that around Vougledar, a locality southwest of Donetsk.
This is the first time that Vougledar, a town of about 15,000 inhabitants before the war, located in the southwestern part of the front line in the Donetsk region, is explicitly mentioned among the “intense” combat zones.
“The intensity of the fighting is increasing,” said Ms. Maliar on Wednesday evening.
“Now in Donbass, against their numerical and armed superiority, our advantage on our side lies in the professionalism of the military command and the courage of the soldiers,” she stressed.
