The National Association of General Practitioners (LHV) has decided to sign the care agreement. During the general members’ meeting of the professional association, the so-called Integral Care Agreement was approved this evening. The GPs were the last party that still had to tack.
The care agreement contains all kinds of agreements about care for the coming years. The intention was that all parties had signed the agreement before Prinsjesdag. Eleven other organizations voted in September. But the GPs refused because they wanted more guarantees.
For example, they wanted clear guarantees from health insurers about extra time for patients. The increase in rates for care outside office hours was also a thorny issue.
These two points have now been met, the professional association writes in a statement. “With this convincing yes, we can now continue together as general practitioners,” says LHV vice-chairman Aard Verdaasdonk.
‘Affordable and accessible’
Minister Kuipers (Public Health) welcomes the agreement: “By working together with all parties, we can come up with solutions that are needed to keep healthcare accessible, affordable and of good quality, now and in the future.”
Due to the aging population, the pressure on healthcare will increase in the coming years. All kinds of measures have been laid down in the agreement to prevent the sector from being bought into.
