At the Querobabi military checkpoint, located on the Hermosillo – Santa Ana section of Federal Highway 15, authorities have identified a new way in which drug cartels intend to traffic narcotics.

The land route that passes through the Querobabi surveillance point covers everything from conventional cargo vehicles (such as tractor-trailers) to trains. The route culminates in Nogales, one of the municipalities that borders Arizona, in the United States. The Regional Airport is located in this Sonoran city and there is also a customs office operated by the Tax Administration Service (SAT).

The meticulous inspections by military personnel in Querobabi have caused, in recent weeks, great anger among residents and businessmen due to the delay in circulation.

In the words of delegate Méndez, this is an issue present in the cabinet of Governor Alfonso Durazo and the option of increasing the lanes at this checkpoint has even been considered.

“It is already an issue that is being seen at the security table, the governor is attentive to this issue, there are long lines that are being made, but measures are already being taken,” said Sergio Méndez.

In addition, the official commented that another option to expedite traffic at that point is the implementation of a pre-registration system, for which they would need support from the Sedena and the National Guard.

For their part, local media reported that personnel from the Santa Cruz County Port Authority, Arizona, have asked Alfonso Durazo to relocate the Querobabi checkpoint, since complaints have been frequent about the slow movement of goods. as well as their transfer.
