Tottenham Hotspur will rent Arnaut Danjuma for the rest of the season, among others, Voetbal International, De Telegraaf and various English media report on Tuesday. The Villarreal attacker seemed to be on his way to Everton, but this transfer has been canceled after the sacking of coach Frank Lampard.
Danjuma, 25, has been linked to Everton for weeks. The six-time Orange international underwent the medical examination in Liverpool on Saturday morning, but a signature was not forthcoming for unclear reasons.
Everton lost 2-0 to West Ham United on Saturday afternoon, after which Lampard was fired on Monday. Danjuma would move to Everton on the recommendation of the English coach, but after his dismissal, the attacker looked at other transfer options. Then Tottenham reported.
Danjuma is reported to undergo a medical at Tottenham on Tuesday. Manager Antonio Conte would like to relieve attackers Son Heung-min and Harry Kane more often and want more competition in his selection.
Danjuma is therefore ready for a return to the Premier League. The Dutchman played for Bournemouth for two years from mid-2019, which sold him to Villarreal for 23.5 million euros in 2021.
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League. The London club will take on Preston North End in the FA Cup on Saturday, after which the league game with Manchester City awaits on February 5.
