Schiphol is organizing another job market next Saturday to recruit extra staff. The airport is looking for security guards and platform and baggage handlers to prevent long queues in the summer.
More than forty employers are present at the event to discuss the vacancies. Schiphol has already started a recruitment campaign together with a number of security companies to improve the flow of passengers. The airport has now employed four hundred new security guards to prevent problems like last year’s.
“Another three hundred will be added in the coming period,” CEO Ruud Sondag said last week. Schiphol announced last year that it would need 850 security guards before the coming summer in order to properly process the passenger flow.
According to the airport, there is currently a great demand for other operational personnel in addition to security guards. “We are mainly looking for operational employees up to and including MBO level 4 in handling, logistics, facility services, security, technology, cleaning, catering and retail.”
