Diplomatic crisis between Russia and Estonia. Both have expelled the ambassadors of the other country on Monday. Moscow began, giving Margus Laidre the deadline of February 7 to leave Russian territory.
In retaliation for the Estonian demand
A retaliatory action, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, by Estonia’s decision to force them to reduce their representation at the embassy in Tallinn and leave it at only eight diplomats and fifteen employees as of February 1. The Baltic country claimed that this was equal to the number of staff at its embassy in Moscow.
“Russophobia”
Tallinn has reduced bilateral relations with the Vladimir Putin regime to a minimum since the invasion of Ukraine. After Moscow’s announcement, Estonia has done the same with the Russian ambassador setting the same date of February 7 for his departure.
The embassies of both countries will be headed by the business manager.
Moscow blames Estonia for the situation, which it accuses of Russophobia and of having elevated hostility to state policy.
