The National Theater of Szeged, in Hungary, prepares its reopening after being closed for months due to high energy prices.
The theater company rehearses the musical Fiddler on the Roof, with which they will reopen the doors of this center in spring.
Not being able to use the theater, finding a place where the 70 artists can train has not been an easy task.
meat products company Pick Szeged has offered one of its unused buildings. A gesture that the company is proud of, explains its financial director, Károly Felföldi: “For us, it is an expense and not a burden, which we are happy to take on in support of the Szeged National Theater,” says Felföldi.
It is not the first time that the theater has been forced to remain closed to the public. László Barnák, its general director, comments that the coronavirus epidemic also affected the activity of the center, despite the fact that then the rehearsals could continue in the two theater buildings.
For him, Pick’s help is an example of good cooperation between the business sector and cultural institutions.
As planned, the company will return to the Szeged National Theater in early March.
In addition to this venue, the city has also closed other cultural and sports institutions.
