Trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij confirmed on Saturday prior to PSV-Vitesse that Fábio Silva will join the Eindhoven club. The attacker is likely to be rented from Wolverhampton Wanderers for the rest of the season.
The twenty-year-old Portuguese will be in the Philips Stadium on Saturday to watch the duel with Vitesse. On Sunday, the final details of his transfer are reportedly being ironed out.
“Yes, he is in the stadium. Usually the transfer will be fine. If the signature is there, it is certain,” Van Nistelrooij said in conversation with ESPN .
Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke left PSV this winter for Liverpool and Chelsea respectively. Van Nistelrooij emphasized that Silva should not be seen as a replacement for one of these two players.
“He is mainly a striker, a central player in the front. So he is not coming to replace Madueke and Gakpo. Today I will first let him look at a very good PSV that has to take revenge after a point against Fortuna Sittard.”
Silva has played on a rental basis at Anderlecht for the past six months. He scored eleven times in 32 matches for the Belgian club. Partly due to his deteriorated relationship with trainer Brian Riemer, he wanted to leave Anderlecht.
