Mario Martínez Bojórquez, mayor of Navojoa, Sonora, died

The City Council of Navojoa, in the state of Sonora, reported this Friday the death of the municipal president, Mario Martínez Bojórquez “Mayito”.

“Until the last day, he dedicated his effort and will to heal Navojoa’s historical wounds. Mayito “Martínez will be remembered as an exemplary father and son, as a friend and a tireless public servant, but above all as a dignified, honest and principled man”

According to the reports, the mayor died in a hospital in Ciudad Obregón, around 1:45 p.m., where he had been receiving urgent medical care since Thursday the 19th, presumably after presenting complications from severe pneumonia.

And it is that he had been suffering from an illness for several months that had led him to be hospitalized during the month of December; however, his state of health had been handled with great secrecy.

His wife, Carmen Adriana Araiza Talamante, even reported in a statement that Mayito Martínez “could not overcome the health problems that had occurred to him in recent times, despite all the efforts that were made at the time.”
