The new calendar year has only just started and there is already so much to look forward to in terms of film. Netflix has announced the release dates of the latest movies, which results in a promising list. In addition to many action films and thrillers, this year you can also count on family-friendly content. These are the eight most anticipated family films of 2023.
Although there will be enough new content on the platform again this year, Netflix will release considerably fewer films than last year. For this year, 49 films have been announced versus the 86 that appeared last year.
1 The Magician’s Elephant
The movie The Magician’s Elephant is based on Kate DiCamillo’s novel of the same name and will soon be brought to the screen as an animation. The story revolves around a boy who, in his search for his sister, is told that an elephant will help him. The Magician’s Elephant is from 17th of March to be seen on Netflix.
2 Damsel
Millie Bobbie Brown, the big star of Stranger Things (2016‑ ) will soon star in the new film Damsel (2023). Damsel is a fantasy movie in which Rapunzel will take revenge after she was hidden deep in the forest to prevent a handsome prince from rescuing her. Damsel is gone October 13 to be seen on Netflix.

3 Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget
After 23 years ago the popular animation Chicken Run (2000) appeared, Netflix is coming with a sequel, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023). This expectedly hilarious sequel will feature the voices of Imelda Staunton, Timothy Spall and Mel Gibson, among others. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is out 10 november to be seen on Netflix.

4 Leo
In Leo we go on an adventure with the 74-year-old lizard Leo and his turtle friend. They decide to escape from the terrarium of a Florida school class in which they have spent the past decades of their lives. This animation will include the voice of comedian Adam Sandler. Leo is off 22 november to be seen on Netflix.
5 The Monkey King
The Monkey King, directed by Anthony Stacchi, is a comedy/action movie starring a monkey who has to face off against the Dragon King. The release date of this movie has not yet been announced.
6 The Archies
The Archies, a film based on the well-known Archie comic books, is set in India in the 1960s. It promises to be a happy musical. The release date of this movie has not yet been announced.

7 The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is one of director Wes Anderson’s latest films based on one of Roald Dahl’s short stories. An all-star cast can be enjoyed with roles including Dev Patel, Ralph Fiennes and Benedict Cumberbatch. The release date of The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar has not yet been announced.
8 Nimon
Nimona (2023) tells the story of Nimona who is the only person who can help knight Ballister Boldheart prove his innocence after being framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Unfortunately, no release date has been announced for Nimona either.
