The women of Ajax booked a difficult victory on Friday at the resumption of the Women’s Eredivisie. Coach Suzanne Bakker’s team won 3-2 against ADO Den Haag at De Toekomst.
Chasity Grant opened the score for Ajax after just two minutes. The attacker simply tapped in after a beautiful action by Ashleigh Weerden along the back line.
Seven minutes before the break, Liz Rijzbergen equalized after an error in Ajax’s defence. The home team recovered quickly and took the lead two minutes later through Tiny Hoekstra.
Halfway through the second half, Ajax had to continue with ten players due to a red card for Roos van der Veen, who was only on the field for three minutes. Fifteen minutes later, ADO took advantage of the surplus situation with Daniëlle Noordermeer’s 2-2. Hoekstra still gave Ajax the win in the final phase with a nice goal.
Thanks to the victory, number two Ajax is level with leader FC Twente. Both teams have thirty points, but Twente has played a game less. The tukkers were supposed to visit PSV on Sunday, but that match was canceled due to the snowfall.
Due to the winter conditions, Fortuna Sittard-PEC Zwolle and VV Alkmaar-sc Heerenveen could also not take place on Friday. At Telstar-Excelsior the ball did roll and that game ended in 2-1.
