Will Ukraine get the tanks they want?
The Ukraine Defense Contact Group is meeting today at the German airbase Ramstein to discuss military support to Ukraine. The group includes the defense leaders of about fifty countries, including our minister Kajsa Ollongren.
Recently, several countries from that group have already promised Ukraine heavy weapons. But to really make progress, some 300 modern tanks are needed, they say in Kiev. Ukraine is therefore asking the allies for Leopard-2s, among other things. Those are modern German tanks. The Dutch army does not have these itself, but leases eighteen of them from Germany.
The file of the De Mos case
He was the big winner of the Hague municipal elections in 2018: Richard de Mos, with his Group De Mos. But he was only able to enjoy it for a short time, because a year and a half later he lost his job again because he was suspected of corruption. He would have bribed people, violated professional secrecy and be part of a criminal organization.
