It feels “a bit like coming home,” said Johnny de Mol on Friday evening at the talk show HLF8, where he left more than six months ago. “I’m happy to be here again.”
The presenter resigned his work at the talk show at the end of April due to allegations of misconduct against him, but will make his return on Friday evening.
At the start of the broadcast, De Mol joked to the table guests: “Anything else happened in the past nine months?” After being asked how he’s doing, he replied, “Yes, I’m doing really well actually, I can’t say anything else. I’m a happy and grateful person.”
De Mol reported in an interview with De Telegraaf that appeared on Friday that he is happy to return as a presenter at the talk show. He said that he was asked by program director Marco Louwerens to help. “Hélène Hendriks and Sam Hagens can only present two evenings each.” Leonie ter Braak, who also presented HLF8 for a while, has switched to RTL. “And that’s why I’m doing the fifth”.
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) dismissed the report filed by ex-partner Shima Kaes against De Mol. There was insufficient evidence. De Mol’s return comes as a surprise; in October he said he would not return to the program.
