Fernando Díaz spoke in networks after attacks on the press in the ‘Take of Lima’.
Fernando Díaz rejected the attacks suffered by various journalists during the coverage of the protests in Lima and other regions of the country. On his social networks, the current host of “Arriba Mi Gente” reported that one of those affected, Willy Nieva, is a close friend whom he met in his first job as a reporter.
“All my solidarity with the great Willy Nieva, victim of a cowardly attack by these criminals involved in the march. I have a special affection for Willy, he was the first cameraman I worked with 27 years ago, ”said the TV presenter on his Twitter account.
The Latina TV figure added that his colleague, who currently works as a cameraman for Canal N, “is a noble friend and chambeador.” However, that was not an impediment for the protesters to insult him, spit on him and beat him up when he did his journalistic work. The same thing happened with his partner Lourdes Paucar.
“Miserables,” Fernando Díaz expressed indignation on his platform, where he confirmed that the press man is stable, but in pain from the beating. “He already passed a medical examination. Bruised, crushed, but the skinny one is strong, ”he said in the comments, after the followers were concerned about Nieva.

At another time, he came out in defense of the work carried out by the cameramen in the so-called ‘Taking of Lima’, indicating that “they are soldiers of the news, who report the facts”. “The vandals vent their hatred and antipathy with them,” he added on his platform.
According to information released, at least eight journalists were victims of attacks during the demonstrations that took place in Lima, Arequipa and other regions of the country. Given the worrying situation, the Association of Journalists of Peru requested that the National Police of Peru provide security to the press teams.

The ‘Take of Lima’, held this Thursday, January 19, was marked by some outbreaks of violence. This was evidenced when a fire started in Plaza San Martín. According to the departmental chief of the Lima Fire Department, the protesters did not allow the units to pass. After three hours, the incident was controlled.
Before the images, Fernando Díaz expressed: “Like any march, which is painted as peaceful in Lima, it ends like this. With the same criminals lashing out at the police for no reason. This march has also been delegitimized, it has lost empathy and respect even among those who believed in the just claim. It is impossible to normalize violence.”
