The La polar restaurant, located in the Cuautémoc delegation, continues to be in the eye of the hurricane after Antonio Monroy died in the establishment as a result of the blows he received from the security of the place, after an argument. The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office closed the place on January 9, 2023 and the alleged murderers are on the run.

In addition to all this, data continues to emerge regarding events that occurred inside but were not reported, as is the case of the death of one of their waiters during January 2022, named Fernando Jiménez, 33 years old, after an accident during working hours and who was at the service of the restaurant for 16 years.
On December 5, 2021, during his shift, Fernando moved from one room to another through the freight elevator, which was not in good condition. His foot got stuck in the space between the floor and the elevator; when trying to free himself from the elevator, he succumbed, pressing the employee, causing serious injuries to his leg and left arm.

According to statements by Fernando’s family lawyer, Ceehir Fuentes, the owners of La Polar constantly discharged and discharged their Social Security employee. While the accident occurred, the waiter did not have medical service, so he had to be transferred to a private hospital.

The FGR concluded that the death of the 27-year-old girl was due to a blow to the head, as the CDMX Prosecutor’s Office had defended.
However, he died on January 20, 2022, at the Traumatology hospital where he arrived after a long journey through three hospitals. His family has demanded that the crime be reclassified after Fernando’s death, since the investigation folder follows up on injuries and not on culpable homicide.
“He died due to injuries from the accident, that was the verdict,” declared Sandra Jiménez, the sister of the employee who lost his life, during an interview. She assured that this accident could have been avoided if the owners had given proper maintenance to the facilities of La Polar.

In addition to requesting the reclassification of the crime, they demand compensation from the owners, since Fernando was working at the time the elevator fell on him, adding the years of work in the restaurant that was 16, entering even when he was younger.

Fernando’s family lawyer also denounced that the FGJ in Mexico City summoned him but no one attended them. “There was a remodeling of their facilities by the Prosecutor’s Office, they moved them to Cuauhtémoc 8 and since they sent them the investigation folders in packages, what happened is that they could not find ours,” said Ceehir Fuentes.
So far none of the owners has approached the family to offer to repair the damage, so they ask that this event not go unpunished, asking the FGJ to expedite the case.
Fernando’s death joins the list of events within La Polar that tried to be, or were, covered up by the owners and employees of the place. Several videos have shown how customers were beaten by security elements and waiters, without distinguishing between men or women.
The death of Antonio Monrroy is the most serious case being investigated by the FGJ of CDMX.
