In the run-up to tomorrow’s meeting with Economy Minister Sergio Massa, the members of the Liaison Table announced today at a press conference that amid the effects of the drought they will demand “urgent measures” from the Economy Minister to face the problematic, and will technically present the map of the current situation of the agricultural sector.

Tomorrow at 10, Massa and the Liaison Table will meet at the INTA headquarters in San Pedro. The Secretary of Agriculture, Juan José Bahillo, and officials from AFIP, INTA and Banco Nación will also participate.

Among the main measures that the Liaison Desk will request from government officials are expediting the Local, Provincial and National Declarations of Emergency and Agricultural Disaster; suspension of income tax advances; extensions or exemption depending on the case of Provincial taxes, and forced sale of wombs, for the calculation of the Income Tax.
In addition, they will request that the Central Bank repeal the resolution that increases the financial cost to soybean producers; modify or foresee that producers in an emergency and/or Disaster do not modify their condition for access to credit, due to this situation, and eliminate the circular Communication A-7600 for producers with a collection of 5% of soybean and wheat stock, which complicates access to financing.

On the other hand, the field leadership will request the extension of credits to producers who are in an emergency and/or disaster, and that the producers do not face problems with their credit rating due to the aforementioned situation. It will also be considered at tomorrow’s meeting that credits be promoted at affordable/subsidized rates, with the aim of meeting the commercial and financial commitments of the affected producers, and generating lines of working and/or planting capital for the next campaign. In the banking aspect, the Liaison Desk will also request the extension of the expiration dates of the rural cards, and before the Afip authorities the proposal will be to suspend VAT withholdings in the settlements of grain and farm sales of the 2022 campaign/ 23, and the suspension of VAT on agricultural inputs, such as fertilizers, agrochemicals, and seeds for the next agricultural season.
