British actor Julian Sands has been missing for five days. The 65-year-old actor, known for the film A Room with a view and the series 24, was reported missing by his wife on Friday. Local authorities tell American media that he did not return home after a hike in a mountainous area near Los Angeles, where the actor has lived for several years.
Rescue workers immediately set up a search on Friday, but had to stop it quickly because of the bad weather conditions. As a result, there was a risk of avalanches and the hiking trails were difficult to pass. Helicopters and drones were used to search. As soon as the weather conditions allow, the search on the ground will also resume, US media report.
Sands had gone hiking in the Baldy Bowl area, a popular ski resort also popular with climbers and hikers. The local authorities had warned on Thursday that it could be dangerous because of the heavy rainfall and heavy snowfall in the region in recent times.

Sands is known for the 1985 film A room with a view, in which he played the lead role with Helena Bonham Carter. The Brit also played a role in the 1989 thriller Warlock and its sequel Warlock: the armageddon.
More recently, Sands played the role of Russian terrorist leader Vladimir Bierko in the successful television series 24. In 2019, he appeared in the short Netflix series What/If.
