With snow, wind and great storms, winter comes to Europe

Finally, winter comes to Europe.

After an unusually warm start to winter, the first snowfalls have fallen in Croatia, in the Lika and Gorski Kotar regions.

Other parts of the country, especially southern Croatia, are hit by heavy rains and sirocco-like southerly winds.

Slippery roads pose a danger to traffic. In the mountainous areas of Gorski Kotar and Lika, snow and fog also make traffic difficult.

Due to these weather conditions, the circulation of cargo vehicles with trailers has been prohibited on some roads.

In southern Austria, heavy snowfalls have caused traffic accidents, traffic jams and interruption of power supply.

Several trucks were trapped in the Pack pass, on the Styrian A2 motorway, and some roads were closed after falling trees.

In Spain the first big storms of the year arrive Gérard and Fien, which will leave snow in a large part of the peninsula.
