On January 3, the judge, Verónica Gutiérrez Fuentes, postponed Lozoya Austin’s hearing for the third (and last) time, after her defense requested a longer period to present the evidence presented. The new date was scheduled for February 16 in the courts of the North Prison, in Mexico City (CDMX).

It is pertinent to note that during this period, Emilio Lozoya’s defense will seek to reach a reparation agreement with the aim of avoiding trial and eventual sentencing – which could reach 61 years in prison – against him also accused of criminal association. For this, the accused party would have proposed offering approximately USD 10 million so that the FGR drops the accusations in the two large corruption cases that Lozoya has dragged: Agronitrogenados (USD 3.4 million) and Odebrecht (USD 7.3 million).

“The position of this defense is firm, we are going to inform the judge that he continues to build the reparation agreement with Pemex for the purposes of declaring the extinction of the criminal action. Likewise, we are going to inform that we continue to analyze some of the materials”, Ontiveros Alonso added.
