The NOS has retained the broadcasting rights of the Olympic Games until 2032. This means that the next five Games can be seen on public broadcasting.
The 2026 Winter Games in Milan, the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, the 2030 Winter Games (location still unknown) and the 2032 Summer Games (Brisbane) will also be broadcast on NOS, on television, radio, online and social media. .
The broadcasting rights for the Paris Games in the summer of 2024 had already been acquired by the NOS. The broadcaster obtained a sublicense from Discovery/Eurosport.
NOS has the right to broadcast more than 200 hours at the Summer Games, and more than 100 hours at the Winter Games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has entered into a new partnership with EBU, the partnership between European broadcasters, which also includes NOS.
Sports remain accessible
Gerard Timmer, general director of the NOS: “This long-term agreement between the IOC and the EBU is very good news for the Dutch public. The Dutch watch the Olympic Games en masse. The previous two events – Tokyo in 2021 and Beijing in 2022 – reached more than 11 million TV viewers. That is more than 70 percent of the Dutch population over the age of 13.
The performance of the athletes is also closely monitored online. The Beijing 2022 Games accounted for 19 million live stream starts.
