The coordinator of Morena in the Chamber of Deputies, Ignacio Mier Velazco, considered that the federal deputy and leader and bench of the Labor Party (PT), Gerardo Fernández Noroña, should be included as an option within the so-called “corcholatas”.

During a press conference, the also president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) applauded that the leadership of his party motivates “without hypocrisy” the registration of all who aspire to the presidential candidacy.

“It is very good that the national leadership begins, without hypocrisy, to freely express that all those who aspire to register. And I would not say that there are only four, it could be five, six”, among whom he considered Fernández Noroña.

This statement was made after the national president of Morena, Mario Delgado, sent a letter to local Morena leaders in which he asked that the presence of the main “corcholatas” be promoted, that is, Claudia Sheinbaum, Marcelo Ebrard, Adán Augusto López and Senator Ricardo Monreal.

On the other hand, regarding the inclusion of Ricardo Monreal —who last year accused unequal conditions for applicants and a smear campaign against him— he considered it as something “very good” after his “reflection stage”.

“The senator has always expressed his interest. He ratified, as it should be, his permanence in the movement and the party. He talks about political consistency and congruence. With respect to the advance promotion of those interested, he considered that it is better, since otherwise the public would be deceived. The also president of the Jucopo expressed that the process of aspiration and selection of the candidate or candidate has to be open, because —otherwise— it would be deceiving the people and resorting to the old practices.

“Maybe another one will emerge out there, and that’s fine. In order for the unity of the party to be maintained, there must be the inclusion of all those who aspire, of those who breathe and aspire.”

For his part, Mario Delgado sent a letter to state governors where he asked to start promoting the presence of the “corcholatas” where Morena governs.

“…I want to request, with the greatest respect, that we build together that unity and strengthen the presence of our compañera Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and our compañeros Adán Augusto López Hernández, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón and Ricardo Monreal Ávila in your federative entity ”, reads the letter signed by Delgado Carrillo.

Said message was released after the meeting that Mario Delgado and the general secretary of Morena, Citlalli Hernández, held with governors of Morena, as well as with Adán Augusto López and Claudia Sheinbaum at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob ) last Saturday.

In the letter, Delgado urged the sending president in question to extend invitations to corcholatas in the coming months in order to inform the people and, at the time of the surveys, make a decision.

“It would be desirable that at your express invitation, in the coming months, several visits to your state be carried out to help the people to be informed and when the time comes to decide through the surveys,” he said.
