The arrest of four people allegedly related to the armed attack against journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva was announced by the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX).

This institution shared through its social networks that it carried out searches in coordination with the State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office in Chalco and Los Reyes, which led to the seizure of weapons, possible drugs, cell phones and four vehicles, in addition to the detainees.

For her part, the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced the arrest in Michoacán of the person allegedly responsible for attacking Gómez Leyva with a firearm. It is about an individual who was as a co-pilot on a motorcycle.

The seizure was in charge of elements of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), the Secretary of Citizen Security of the capital (SSC) as well as the prosecutor’s offices of Michoacán and CDMX.

Regarding the detainees in the State of Mexico, the FGJCDMX reported on the progress in the investigation of the attack against Gómez Leyva:

“In coordination with @FiscaliaEdomex, two searches were carried out in Chalco and in Los Reyes in the State of Mexico. Vehicles, cell phones, weapons and possible drugs were seized. 4 people were arrested” could be read in the brief statement from the capital’s prosecutor’s office shared on the afternoon of Thursday, December 12.

Also during the morning of January 12, Claudia Sheinbaum reported on the seizure of two vehicles linked to a criminal cell, it should be noted that the attackers from the communicator fled in one of them.

After the armed attack suffered by the journalist, the capital authorities managed to arrest 11 people allegedly related to the events.

According to investigations by the authorities, a black and orange motorcycle was used in the armed attack against the journalist, in addition to three other units.

For her part, the Attorney General of Justice of the CDMX, Ernestina Godoy, confirmed the dismantling of a criminal cell that carried out operations in the capital of the country.
