Moissac is on the route of the GR 105 and the Paray-le-Monial way of the Compostela path. We count at least 5,000 pilgrims who stop in the town each year, sometimes more. If there are many retirees on the way, we see more and more young people and families. The summer of 2022 was very hot and many had to stop. There is a train station in Moissac, which makes it an interesting relay for those who make the journey in stages.
The pilgrimage season takes place from May to September, we give advice for accommodation, catering, and we also distribute the schedule of masses. The tourist office is a public, non-denominational body, but we work with everyone to welcome pilgrims and tourists. Moreover, we can sell the credentials to pilgrims.
They can go to the Maison dupilgrim opened in 2018 and to the cloister. They are then welcomed by the community of the Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church. The nuns sing vespers every evening, and it is a beautiful moment that we recommend to both pilgrims and visitors.
Relations between the tourist office and the Christians are good, and the parish is very lively. In fact, even if they stop for one night in Moissac, pilgrims often return as tourists to better discover the town. A dynamic that benefits everyone.
