Agent stabbed to death in Budapest

A police officer has been killed in a stabbing incident in Budapest, Hungary. Two other officers were injured.

The police received a report around 10 p.m. last night about an incident in an apartment complex in a neighborhood on the left bank of the Danube. A resident had kicked in the door of one of his neighbors and tried to enter the house.

Officers who arrived on the scene tried to arrest the man when he attacked them. He stabbed three officers with a knife and then fled into the street, where he was shot in the leg by a fourth officer. The attacker and injured officers were taken to hospital. One of the officers died of his injuries there.

The motive of the perpetrator is still unclear.
