Germany confirms the shipment of Marder combat vehicles and Poland will send German-made _Leopard 2_.
After almost a year of requests from Ukraine, the German Defense Minister, Christina Lambrecht, confirmed the shipment of combat vehicles to Ukraine. This is an important step forward in Berlin’s military support for kyiv, but it does not satisfy the demand for front-line battle tanks that Ukraine needs.
However, Poland has announced that it will offer some of the German-built Leopard 2s it has in its own army.
The German Defense Minister, Christina Lambrechtavoided giving all the details: “Now we are adapting to this change of situation by delivering Marder tanks. And I think this is the right approach: do not rule anything out, but always weigh what we want to achieve, what are the challenges – and always be attentive to coordination with international partners, with our allies.”
The President of Poland, Andrzej Dudaconfirmed the planned delivery by Warsaw after a meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodímir Zelenski in Lviv. He assured that the measure would be part of a coordinated shipment with other countries.
