What can you expect today?
This week, military equipment from the US for Ukraine, such as M-1 Abrams tanks and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, will come ashore in the port of Vlissingen. Today the media can be present at the disembarkation of the vehicles. Minister Hoekstra of Foreign Affairs starts a visit to Abu Dhabi and Qatar. Today he will visit the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and visit the EMASOH mission that protects shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Starting today, Rijkswaterstaat will carry out some test blasts at the Middensluis in Terneuzen. They do that with small explosives. They want to investigate how they can best demolish that old lock. The German police can start today with the evacuation of the occupied ‘lignite village’ Lützerath, not far from Roermond. For more than two years, the village has been occupied by activists who are trying to prevent the ground under Lützerath from being excavated for the extraction of lignite.

Former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, 75, has been sentenced to five months in prison for helping the company commit tax fraud.
Weisselberg had worked for Trump since the 1970s. In the trial, he pleaded guilty to all fifteen charges. He thus avoided the maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. As part of the sentence, he already transferred about 2 million euros in back taxes, fines and interest.
Among other things, Weisselberg confessed to defrauding the company by keeping extra income, a Manhattan apartment, and cars for himself and school fees for his grandchildren out of the holding company’s books. Trump himself is not on trial in this case.

Scientists are going to test special cameras on manatees in Arnhem’s Burgers’ Zoo. Once it is clear where on the body the cameras can best be attached, manatees and sea turtles in the Caribbean will also receive cameras temporarily.
This is done for a large-scale international study to map the consequences of climate change in tropical ecosystems. According to the zookeepers, the animals are not bothered by the cameras. “They have very thick skin.”
