The comedy De Tatta’s has attracted 400,000 people to the cinema and will therefore be the first film to receive a Platinum Film in 2023. Director Jamel Aattache, screenwriter Donny Singh, producer Paul Ruven and actor Leo Alkemade received the award on Tuesday.
On average, only two films a year receive the Platinum Film. The prize is an initiative of the Netherlands Film Festival, with support from the Netherlands Film Fund and the Abraham Tuschinski Fund.
At the end of December, De Tatta’s received another Golden Film when it passed 100,000 visitors. It was the fourteenth film to receive the Golden Film in 2022.
De Tatta’s is about a wealthy family from ‘t Gooi, who lose their entire fortune after a risky investment. They are forced to live in a simple flat in a less wealthy neighbourhood.
