British influencer and former kickboxer Andrew Tate remains detained in Romania for the time being. This has been determined by a court in the Romanian capital Bucharest.
Tate was arrested near Bucharest at the end of December on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and participation in organized crime. A Romanian court ruled a day later that he had to be detained for at least another thirty days, but Tate appealed against this.
Tate’s brother Tristan and two Romanians were also arrested. Justice suspects the group of setting up a network that recruits and exploits women by forcing them to produce pornographic material. They also contested their detention. The judge also rejected their appeal.
Forced porn
According to the Romanian authorities, six possible victims have now been identified, who would have been subjected to violence and coercion. The victims are said to have been approached through loverboys and later sexually exploited. According to the authorities, they were forced to produce pornographic material.
Fifteen expensive cars have been seized so far in the investigation, at least seven of which belong to Tate and his brother. Ten plots registered to the brothers’ companies have also been seized.
Tate has been repeatedly criticized for his statements about women in the past. For example, he called himself a misogynist, said that women belong to men and that they are partly responsible for rapes. He was removed from Facebook and Instagram, among other things.
