A 9-year-old Dutch boy was left behind in a parking lot along the German highway A3, from Frankfurt to Cologne, last weekend. Near Wiesbaden, his mother had stopped for gas and he had gone to pee himself. When he returned, the car had left.
Another Dutch family saw the boy pacing in the parking lot. The family took care of him and handed him over to the police.
Agents then searched for the mother’s car and also contacted authorities in the Netherlands. Eventually, the boy’s aunt reported to the German traffic police. After 2.5 hours mother and child could be reunited.
The German police did not report why the woman had driven away without her child. It is said that the mother was visibly relieved with the good outcome.
