The mysterious costume drama can be seen on the streaming service since last Friday and immediately managed to attract a huge number of viewers in the first weekend. The Pale Blue Eye can be found in first place in the top 10 on Netflix and therefore has the successful Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) already caught up. Concrete viewing figures are not (yet) known, but it is clear that the story with Bale and Gillian Anderson is very popular.

The film attempts to solve a series of murders that took place at the American Military Academy at West Point in 1830. Oscar winner Bale reunites with Cooper, director of the Western Hostiles (2017) which also stars Bale, now stars veteran detective Augustus Landor as he investigates the murders, aided by a young cadet who would go on to become world-renowned author Edgar Allan Poe.
