The war in Ukraine has been the great protagonist of Military Easter in Spain, an act that has once again been held at the Royal Palace of Madrid with all the solemnity it had before the pandemic.
The ceremony was presided over by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, with the presence of representatives of the three Armies.
The monarch, in his capacity as head of state and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has defined the “Russian aggression in Ukraine” as “unjustifiable, illegal and brutal”. He has also highlighted the importance of Spain invest in Defense to provide the Army with “the necessary resources to guarantee training of the highest quality, sufficient military capabilities and cutting-edge technology, and flexible and adequate operations.”
“This war, far from undermining unity and causing fissures among all those of us who defend international law, freedom, peace, democratic values and an international order based on rules, what it has achieved is to strengthen our cohesion and present a front common”, affirmed Felipe VI.
The war in Ukraine has also focused the speech of the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles.

It is a war against Europe, against the values that democracy represents, against human rights and against peaceful coexistence between nations (…)__Spain will continue to give its help and support because every time a missile falls on Ukrainian soil, all of us who believe in peace and freedom are also its target“said the minister. _
Spain has increased its defense budget this year by almost 26%. In addition to modernizing the Army, Felipe VI has stressed the need to maintain the unity of action of the allied countries against Russia.
