Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, erupts.
Since last Thursday, the Volcano Observatory on the island of Hawaii began to detect activity inside the Halemaumau crater, seismic activity and ground deformation.
The eruption comes less than a month after another volcano, its neighbor Mauna Loa, became active after 38 years.
Although the volcano alert level has been raised, the eruption does not pose a danger to communities as Hawaii’s Kilauea is far from residential areas.
