Ajax starts on Sunday afternoon with the resumption of the Eredivisie against NEC without Steven Bergwijn. The attacker seems to be ill and is replaced by Francisco Conceição. The new goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli is not yet there.
Setup Ajax
Pasveer; Sánchez, Timber, Bassey, Rensch; Álvarez, Taylor, Klaassen; Conceição, Brobbey, Tadic.
NEC setup
Twenty-year-old Conceição starts for the first time in Ajax’s base. He plays as a right winger, putting Dusan Tadic in his preferred position as a left winger. Brian Brobbey, last season’s match winner visiting NEC on behalf of Ajax, is the striker.
In addition to Bergwijn, Steven Berghuis and Mohammed Kudus are also ill. They did not travel to Nijmegen. Kenneth Taylor was also ill earlier this week, but the midfielder will start against the NEC of ex-Ajacieds Jasper Cillessen and Lasse Schöne.

It was also puzzling in the rear for Schreuder, who saw Daley Blind leave this winter. It seems that Calvin Bassey and Jurriën Timber form the central duo and Devyne Rensch acts as left back. Jorge Sánchez is then the right back.
Schreuder does not yet have goalkeeper Rulli in Nijmegen, who, according to the head coach, was the first goalkeeper. Remko Pasveer is therefore still under the bar against NEC with the reigning national champion. Jay Gorter and Maarten Stekelenburg are the reserve keepers.
Ajax suffered a lot of loss of points before the winter break
Just before the World Cup break, Ajax lost points in three consecutive matches. PSV lost 1-2 and the duels with Vitesse (2-2) and FC Emmen (3-3) ended in a draw.
Schreuder’s team therefore has three points less than leader Feyenoord, which started the away game with FC Utrecht at 12.15 p.m. PSV is number two with one point more than Ajax. The team from Eindhoven got stuck on a draw against Sparta Rotterdam on Saturday evening: 0-0.
The duel between NEC and Ajax starts at 2.30 pm and is led by referee Pol van Boekel.
