CD Projekt Red has finally shared gameplay footage of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, along with all the upgrades coming to the next gen version.
This was all revealed during a CD Project Red Twitch livestream, where a group of developers shared more about the new graphics, new quests, cross-progression, and more updates coming to Witcher 3 on December 14.
CD Projekt Red confirmed that the graphics options are coming to console, allowing players to choose 30 frames per second with ray tracing or 60 frames without. This will be available for all next gen devices, including the Xbox Series S.
The DLC based on the Witcher Netflix series has also been expanded with its own quest, for which players will receive the previously announced armor set of Henry Cavill’s Geralt. In addition, there is also an alternative outfit for Dandelion, which makes him look more like Netflix’s Jaskier.
Multiple quality of life improvements
CD Projekt Red also announced that cross-progression is coming to the game, meaning players will be able to share their save games between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
Added to that is haptic feedback to the PS5 version of the game, which will cause the controller to vibrate in different ways when swords strike each other, or when magic is used.
Other improvements include changes to the map, including a filter that lets you show and hide quests. This option has also been added to allow players to encounter stories more naturally, rather than searching through the map for the next quest.
The next gen update was originally scheduled to be released last year, but was delayed twice as third party studio Saber Interactiev was still working on the new version. CD Projekt Red then took over in April 2022.
