The Orange Women have scheduled two training matches because the friendly against Zambia was cancelled. The team of national coach Andries Jonker will play a half against both the women of ADO Den Haag and those of Feyenoord on the KNVB Campus in Zeist on Friday.
The duel with Feyenoord starts at 5 p.m. After a half against the Rotterdam team, the Orange internationals will take on ADO. Both clubs play in the Women’s Eredivisie. The Dutch competition will be suspended next weekend due to the international match.
The public is welcome at both games. The KNVB welcomes about 350 spectators at its own complex in Zeist, where the internationals train daily. After the practice matches of Orange, ADO and Feyenoord will still play against each other.
The Orange Women were looking for a new meaning for the week after Zambia was forced to cancel on Monday. The Zambian team did not get the visas in time, so Thursday’s exhibition game in Breda could not take place.
After the training games against Feyenoord and ADO, the Orange squad will play an official exhibition game on Tuesday. Then Jonker’s team will compete against Norway, which was knocked out in the group stage at the European Championship last summer. The Netherlands went down as defending champions in the quarterfinals.
The exhibition game with Norway is part of the preparation for the World Cup, which will be held in Australia and New Zealand next year. The Orange squad qualified for the global tournament last month by winning the crucial qualifier against Iceland 1-0 thanks to a goal in injury time.
