The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies approved, by a majority of 445 votes, the repeal of Daylight Saving Time in Mexico. It is proposed that this law between effective October 30 this year instead of November 1.
Nevertheless, The opinion still needs to go to the Chamber of Senators.
The opinion contemplates an exception so that municipalities that border the United Statesa strip of about 20 kilometers, keep the Summer Time so as not to affect the commercial exchange.
Where will Daylight Savings Time be applied?
In the border strip with the United States of America, Summer Time begins on the second Sunday of March at 02:00which occurs prior to the rest of the country.
These municipalities are:
Coyame del Sotol
Práxedis G. Guerrero
Gustavo Diaz Ordaz
In addition to the state of Quintana Roo, which does not use Summer Time either.
The biggest change for Daylight Saving Time in 2023
However, if Daylight Saving Time is repealed, the biggest change will be that on the first Sunday of April 2023, the clocks will not be advanced in the countryexcept in the 33 municipalities of the border strip and Quintana Roo.
