Ruy López Ridaurageneral director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control (Cenaprece), reported that next October 3 will start the national vaccination campaign against influenza and where the goal will be to immunize 33.6 million people.
On the Tuesday of the Pulse of Health, during the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the federal official explained that the campaign is mainly aimed at adults aged 60 and over, children under 5 years of age, girls and boys aged 6 to 59 months, health personnel, as well as pregnant women and risk groups with immunosuppression problems or some type of comorbidities such as diabetes or hypertension.
“Remember that we will start the seasonal campaign that starts every winter on October 3, every October we have a vaccination campaign against influenza. We will start on October 3, ends March 31.
“The national goal is 33.6 million vaccines for the entire sector and we already have practically a distribution of the first 10 million in all entities. This week we will also distribute six million more so that on October 3 next Monday in all the entities, in all the institutions, we have enough vaccines to start,” he said.
In the Treasury room of the National Palace, Ruy López Ridaura indicated that getting vaccinated when earlier is better.
“It is better to get vaccinated in the first months of the season and not wait until the end because protection is much more important for the winter season that is when the risk begins that is when the risk of influenza begins,” he added.
