The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, expressed his condolences to the mayor of Celaya, Guanajuato, Javier Mendoza Márquez (PAN), for the murder of his son, Guillermo Mendoza Suárez.
During today’s “morning” at the National Palace, López Obrador said that it was a very unfortunate event.
“We send him, his family, his friends a very strong hug, the Undersecretary of Security, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, is going to inform us about this case and others. The son of the PAN mayor was shot at by individuals who were traveling on board of a motorcycle,” said López Obrador.
According to authorities, Guillermo Mendoza Suárez was shot at approximately 4:00 p.m. in the parking lot of a pharmacy. located on the corner of Avenida 2 de Abril and Francisco I. Madero Street, in the Zapote neighborhood, in Celaya.
Armed men opened fire on the victim. It is unknown what the motive would have been.
