The national Civil Protection coordinator reported during today’s “morning” that all the necessary conditions are in place to go down to the coal mine in Sabinas, Coahuila, and search for and rescue the miners today.
In a press videoconference at the National Palace, The official assured that the strategy that has been implemented for her rescue has been correctbecause first they sought to remove all the debris and reduce the water levels so as not to put the lives of the rescuers at risk.
He explained that throughout the early hours of this Friday material was extracted, such as poles, and that there is already an extraction of 97% of the water that was in the mine, but he indicated that the pumping of the liquid will continue.
“We are already at 97% extraction of water, so we already have all the conditions to go down today. We removed material all morning to enter the abruptness and rescue right now,” he explained.
He indicated that a new dignified space was set up for the relatives of the miners, where food is offered throughout the day and which also includes a mobile hospital for their care.
Finally, He mentioned that relatives are constantly being informed of the progress of the rescue. “They can see how we’re doing and they ask us questions, they want us to give them details.”
