The National Institute of Migration (INM) of the Ministry of the Interior, reported that in coordination with the Ministry of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC), it helped and rescued 22 migrants, including 12 minors, who were deprived of his freedom.
“One of the people who was in captivity took advantage of the carelessness of his perpetrators and managed to contact the 911 emergency line to request help”highlighted in a statement.
During the call, the 40-year-old adult said that he was with other migrants in a home where they were deprived of their liberty and their captors asked each of them for $2,500 to let them go.
He mentioned that a person with a robust complexion came to the safe house between 09:00 and 16:00 to bring them food and then left. The call was managed to be located in the Venustiano Carranza mayor’s office, for which an operation was mounted.
At the scene, 12 minors (5 women and 7 men) were rescued, as well as 10 adults (2 women and 8 men), all from Guatemala.. Minors and those who made up family nuclei will remain under the tutelage of the National System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) for their protection, while adults were taken to the Immigration Station of Mexico City to continue with your immigration administrative process.
