Botic van de Zandschulp reached the second round of the Montreal Masters tournament in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. The number 25 in the world defeated the Serb Miomir Kecmanovic: 6-1 and 7-5. In the next round, he will meet Briton Cameron Norrie.
Van de Zandschulp needed a little more than twenty minutes against the global number 35 to win the first set. In the second company, the game was more balanced. The Dutchman struck at the important moments and thus prevented a decisive set.
It was already the third time in 2022 that Van de Zandschulp and Kecmanovic met. In Indian Wells the Serb was victorious and in Munich the Dutchman was the best.
In the second round in Montreal, Van de Zandschulp will face Norrie, the number nine on the placement list. The Briton recently made it to the semi-finals at Wimbledon, in which Novak Djokovic proved too strong after a rough start.
