The national coordinator of Civil Protection, Laura Velázquez, said that “We hope that we are within hours of carrying out the rescue”possibly today, of the 10 miners trapped in the mine del Pinabete, in Sabinas, Coahuila.
When this Wednesday is fulfilled a week trapped in the wells where they extract coal, he added that the explosion levels “are optimal, there is no problem for the rescuers to be able to enter at any time to be able to enter the divers”.
During the “morning” conference and in a video call, the official recounted the actions and added that this Wednesday morning there will be a meeting to make an assessment with Sedena “to see if the divers can enter in a short time and obviously that all the rescuers have the necessary equipment to be able to enter at any time, hopefully today”.
He highlighted the work of 672 elements from the three levels of government, who he said have worked 158 continuous hours since last Wednesday afternoon in the rescue of the 10 workers “always very hand in hand with the families, caring for them and of course with the goal of rescuing the miners as soon as possible”.
He reported on the progress of water extraction and pointed out that on the day of yesterday -Tuesday- the volume of water extracted was 21 thousand 787 cubic meters and the total volume since last Wednesday, August 3, it has been 125 thousand 453 cubic meters.
In addition, the outlet flow is 252 liters per second in the last 24 hours and to speed up this water extraction process, a strategy has been developed that allows the outlet flow to be increased and this is through drilling in 10 holes.
