Five years after Insidious: The Last Key (2018) has now finally started production of the sequel, Insidious 5. We also now know for the first time where the film will take place, in what time and who will (re)interpret the lead roles.
Ten years after Insidious: Chapter 2
The new sequel is set in the present day, some ten years after the events of Insider: Chapter 2 (2013). For young Dalton it is now time to study and his father drops him off at the university. That is also where the film will mainly be set: the prestigious East Coast college.
Ten years after the end of Insidious 2, Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) heads east to drop off his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) at an idyllic, ivy-clad college. However, Dalton’s dream turns into a nightmare when the suppressed demons from his past suddenly return to haunt them both.
Directorial debut Patrick Wilson
Patrick Wilson, the actor who has played Dalton’s father from the beginning, will direct Insidious 5. He is making his directorial debut. This time the script was written by Scott Teems, the man behind scripts for films like Halloween Kills (2021) and fire starter (2022). Ty Simpkins, now 21, is reprising his role as Dalton.
Just a little patience until Insidious 5
Although the shooting is now in full swing, unfortunately we have to be patient for a while before the new horror film can be admired on the silver screen. Insidious 5 appears July 6, 2023 in the cinema. For now you can go to Pathé Thuis for all parts in the Insidious franchise.
