“Don’t watch the volcanic eruption.” This is the appeal made by the police in Iceland. Last week a volcano erupted and that volcano has attracted a lot of visitors so far.
Many people want to see with their own eyes how the lava flows over the earth. They take a packed lunch and have a picnic next to the volcano.
But that’s really dangerous. Last week, three tourists were injured when they came to see the volcano. The ground around the volcano is very hot. So one wrong step can seriously burn your feet.
But experts especially warn about the air around the volcano. It is poisonous and should not be inhaled. So not really healthy to hang out there for a long time.
Whether the warning helps remains to be seen. Today there were still long traffic jams to get to the volcano.
